What this site is

One Less Thing publishes free, plain-language educational content about disability financial planning — ABLE accounts, SSI (Supplemental Security Income), Medicaid, Special Needs Trusts, and related topics.

Every situation is different, and the information here may not apply to yours. Benefit rules — especially SSI, Medicaid, and ABLE account rules — change frequently and vary by state. We do our best to keep content current, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is up to date at the moment you read it. Verify important figures with official sources (Social Security Administration, your state's ABLE plan, etc.) before making decisions.
